Farooq Tariq, general secretary of Labour Party Pakistan was detained for the 6th time recently. He was arrested in the early hours of June 4 and was finally set free after living through hellish conditions on June 19. He was put in Pakistan jails for political reasons and was released only when pressure from all quarters mounted on Musharraf's administration. His detention along with hundreds of thousands of political workers belonging to opposition parties at orders of the General Musharraf government was aimed at weakening the growing level of protest in favour of suspended Chief Justice Iftikar Md.
