I lived at 265 chapel street salford 3.. and I attended this school .. I distinctly remember Mr Sinnot, our headmaster, Miss Green, Miss Jones and Miss Hamer.Who taught 'Kindergarten' and the junior children. We used seashells kept in tobacco tins for counting with, Janet and John were our reading books and there was a rocking boat and little canvas beds for our 'nap' set on the wooden floorboards, which you had to be careful not to wriggle when sitting on the floor for the story ...otherwise you would get splinters!! I don't remember a school fileld, we had a big yard and brickbuilt 'sheds' with archways in for when it rained, and whatever the weather, we were buttoned up one by one and sent out to play. I remember Suzanne James,9who had a twin brother) Gillian Dwyer, Michael Lally and Jimmy Curran, Jimmy lived with his grandad and his mam I think at the top of St Stephen's street, he sold me a white mouse, which I brought home in a large 'OXO'tin. I had that mickey mouse til he died. We moved to Stockport in 1960 and I remember too the Whit Walks and gathering in Bexley Square with my sister catherine,for the walk with St Philip and St Stephen to Town.We had our picture taken by the 'Manchester Guardian'
