The Republic of Maldives is a muslim nation of 1192 small coral islands (which are divided into 26 atolls) located in the Indian Ocean southwest of India. The richness of the underwater world is indeed extremelly beautiful and it is the reason why many professional or amatheur divers come here to practice their sport. Unfortunatelly, it´s sad to antecipate that in a few decades these islands (and many others like these) may all disapear as sea level is suppose to rise up because of climates changes. As you remember when the recent Tsunami event happened the sea level rose up more than 1 metre and the water submerged many of the islands which height do not surpasse 3 metres. So, my advise is: if you really want to go visiting this part of the world you better come before it sinks down forever! To give you an idea of these "atols paradise", here are some photos I took on my travelling holidays on December 1998.
