From Album Inael's Final Project by Inael
Final Project
For my final project I choose my first design for Design 1 Course at USB. It consists in a painter’s house, located in the surroundings of a plaza, which is also surrounded by other artist’s houses and buildings.
The plaza mentioned has a dry zone, a green one, and a commercial building where electronic artifacts are sold.
My client’s needs were: a space for teaching, other one where he could work, and a gallery where he could expose his paintings. Equally, he needed a little apartment where he could rest, eat, sleep and have his private life.
The house has to the right a dancer’s house and to the left a sculptor’s house. The two principal facades are: the one that sees to the plaza and the other that sees to a back garden. The first one, is much closed in general, and opens up in the apartment area. The back facade is more open and it integrates with the vegetation in the garden.
Referred to the structure of the house, it is based on a reinforced concrete frame, which possesses twelve columns, of which only two of them are visible. About the materials that will be used in the construction, these are: mostly concrete and glass. Also will be used steel for the railings through the entire house, separating the different spaces of it.
The house’s dimensions are: a base of 12x12m and 12m in height. It has four floors (including the grounded floor). The ground floor is the space destined to the gallery, much closed for the conservation of the pieces. In this floor are my client’s administrative office, a bathroom and a deposit.
Then, there is the first floor, which will be used for the teaching requirements. In this floor my client can give painting courses in a fantastic double height space, which counts with a bathroom and a deposit, too.
Later, we have the second floor which is destined to the own client’s work. This floor counts with a spectacular terrace that sees to the back garden, and also with a kind of study where my client can keep his un-finished paintings, his materials and all the things he needs for doing the pieces. Equally, this level has its bathroom and deposit.
Finally, there is the third floor. This is the more private space of the house and it is intended for painter’s apartment. This floor counts with a living space, a kitchen-dining space, a bedroom and a bathroom. The apartment has a wonderful view of the plaza, so the painter could have a pleasant space to develop his private life separated for the professional areas.
