From Album Ecuador Cloud Forests in Travel by Raghu Nathan
Photos taken in Bella Vista near Quito in Ecuador in Feb 2007. The cloud forests of Bella Vista owe much to Richard, an Englishman who came to Ecuador 30 years ago and bought up farmland and let nature regenerate itself. He has done a fantastic job and it is great pleasure to spend a few days there, watching hummingbirds within touching distance at the lodge.
We stayed at the top level in the Tree house and it was a great experience.
Bellavista is one hour forty minutes drive from Quito. It is a 700 hectare private reserve which offers special experience in primary and secondary forest with towering, moss-covered trees, steep mountains and cascading waterfalls.
A variety of clearly-marked trails take you through the forest to hidden canyons and spectacular viewpoints. The reserve offers naturalist guides and specialist bird guides, and the self-guided educational trail awaits the curiosity of young people of all ages. Indeed, Bellavista caters to anybody who loves nature!
